Tips On How To Get Kids To Eat Proper Meals

If you are worried about how to get kids to eat proper meals, it is a clear indication that you are committed to ensuring that they get good nutrition. Like a lot of other things, children learn best by modeling. They look up to you as the example that they wish to follow. So, you need to ensure that the whole family eats wholesome and nutritious food. The fact that every member of the family needs to eat their vegetables and legumes should be well accepted.
To ensure that your kids receive a nutritious and balanced diet, you may like to plan your meals and snacks in advance. This will help you shop accordingly. Also, when you are ready to cook, you will not have to run out for the required groceries.
Eat and offer your kids five to six small meals instead of three large ones. You will need to ensure that you cover all the food groups. Offer five to six servings of vegetables daily. This may be in the form of a side dish or by including them in pasta, sandwiches and casseroles.
Take your kids along when you are shopping for groceries. Teach them how to choose fresh and nutritious food over the processed kind that is often no good for their bodies. However, do not eliminate processed foods completely; let them choose one or two items that they can have during the course of the week. Do make certain that you children drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water daily and bring down their consumption of aerated drinks.
Involve your kids in food preparation and serving. Let them help you in the simple and fun act of rolling out dough for pizza. Finally, do ensure that your kids get enough outdoor play time so that they can work up a good appetite.

About Us

Joanie, Sam and myself (Kathryn,) have been mommy friends for 15 years. We have seen our kids go through various school functions together, from fundraisers, to art class to soccer practice. We each have kids above 15, above 10 and above 5 and we noticed a disturbing trend in the public school system, the demise of Physical Education. While we don't believe competitive sports is the route every child should take we are advocates of positive physical activity for children.

If no one says anything the day will soon come that you are paying the same amount in property taxes and your children will be without PE, Music, Art and basic Math, English, History and Writing are done on the "as long as you feel good" standard.

We are 3 moms for Physical Education in Schools.
